National Mall DC 550th Anniversary of Guru Nanak
Aug-31 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Join us for a very special national celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, Founder of Sikhism! The day will be filled with kirtan music and speeches by renowned Sikh leaders! Food will be served to everyone in attendance.
We are honored to have been invited to be one of the guest performers for this event, alongside Guru Ganesha Band, Snatam Kaur, and other renowned kirtan artists! Because of the positive and universal message in our music, we were invited to join with members of the Sikh community to present a special set of collaborative kirtan style music alongside our good friend and fantastic Tabla player, Bhai Sawinder Singh. While we are not followers of the Sikh faith, we feel our message of love is in alignment with these teachings and it is a great honor to have the opportunity to learn more about the classical Indian kirtan music style in preparation for such a beautiful community gathering that has at its heart the promotion of equality and unity at a time when DC could really use a boost in vibration. And since this event is happening globally, we are excited to be working in tandem with open hearts all over the world! We are also going to be playing a set of our own folk/rock/world/new age music for this event, later in the day.
